Carriage-house garages in Whitby

Rules for garages in Whitby
Under the Ontario Building Code, an accessory building larger than 10 square metres needs a building permit. The Town of Whitby sets height, floor area and setback limits for accessory buildings. Properties that are designated or in a heritage area may need heritage approval for a new building that can be seen from the street. Lots near Lynde or Pringle Creek can also fall under CLOCA.
