Rules for garages in Pickering
Under the Ontario Building Code, an accessory building larger than 10 square metres needs a building permit. The City of Pickering sets the height, size and setback limits for accessory buildings. A studio that will be heated and used daily needs insulation, power and good ventilation. Properties near ravines and creeks may be regulated by the TRCA, which has its own permit.
