Rules for garages in Oshawa
Under the Ontario Building Code, an accessory building larger than 10 square metres needs a building permit. The City of Oshawa's zoning by-law limits the height, size and setbacks of accessory buildings. A suite above a garage needs fire separation, its own heating, a safe exit and water and sewer service, and must meet the City's rules for additional units. We check all of it before we draw.
