What building in Uxbridge involves
The Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan and the Greenbelt limit what can be built on many Uxbridge properties, especially near woodlands, wetlands and streams. The conservation authority depends on the watershed: parts of the Township are in the Lake Simcoe Region area and parts, mainly in the south, are in the Toronto and Region (TRCA) area.
Most rural lots need a well and septic system, and slopes affect where both can go. Building permits come from the Township of Uxbridge. We check all of this before design starts, so the house is planned around what the land allows.

Can I build on the Oak Ridges Moraine in Uxbridge?
Often, yes, but the Moraine plan limits development near natural features such as woodlands, wetlands and streams. We check the limits for your property before any design work.
Is a sloped lot harder to build on?
It takes more planning, but it can be worth it: a walkout lower level and better views. Drainage, the driveway grade and the septic location all need to be worked out together.
Which conservation authority covers Uxbridge?
