What building in Pickering involves
Pickering is in the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) area. Lots near the lake, Frenchman's Bay, or creek valleys such as Duffins Creek and Petticoat Creek may need a TRCA permit before the building permit. Valley and shoreline setbacks often decide where a house can sit.
On established streets, the zoning sets the size, height and setbacks of a new home. In north Pickering, much of the land is in the Greenbelt and lots use wells and septic systems. Building permits come from the City of Pickering. We check all of this before design.
