This lot was tight, with neighbours close on both sides. The plan pushes the living space toward the water and keeps the garage and driveway toward the road.
The result is a lake house that makes the most of a narrow lot: a new custom home, a detached garage, a two-storey boathouse and new landscaping, all planned around the view.

That leaves the lake side open for the deck, the porch, the yard and the path down to the shore.
Inside, the great room has a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams, a full-height stone fireplace, and a wall of windows facing the lake.
The windows run from the floor up into the gable, so the lake is in view from almost anywhere in the room.
The kitchen opens onto the great room with a long island and a dining table that looks out to the water.
Large sliders beside the table lead out to the deck, so meals can move outside easily.
The great room, dining area and kitchen work as one open space under the beamed ceiling.
An upper landing looks down over the whole space, so the main floor feels connected from end to end.
On the lake side, a timber-framed screened porch with a wood ceiling gives the family an outdoor room that works in the bug season.
Windows on three sides and a glazed gable keep the lake in view, with the heavy timbers and wood ceiling giving it a warm, cottage feel.
Down at the shore, a two-storey boathouse sits on the water.
