What building on Cameron Lake involves

Many Cameron Lake lots slope toward the water. The grade decides where the house sits, how the lower level opens to the lake and how rain runs off the site, so the house, driveway and septic bed are placed together from the start.

The City of Kawartha Lakes issues building permits and sets how far a new home must sit from the water. The lake is part of the Trent–Severn Waterway, so docks, boathouses and shoreline work involve Parks Canada, and some lots also need a conservation authority review.

My Cameron Lake lot is steep. Can you still build?

Usually, yes. A sloped lot often suits a walkout lower level. The grade affects the foundation, drainage and driveway, so we plan them together.

How far from the water can a new home be?

The City of Kawartha Lakes zoning sets the setback, and some lots have extra limits from the conservation authority. We confirm what applies to your lot before design.

Can you build a boathouse at the same time?

Yes. Work in or along the Trent–Severn Waterway needs Parks Canada approval, so we apply for it alongside the house and plan the two together.
